About Central Library
The College library started its journey from the inception of the institution (1950) under the supervision of Shree Deb Nandan Banerjee, the first Librarian of this college.
Library opens at 6.30 AM for the morning section, and it remains open till 5 PM covering the entirety of the day section.
A Book bank, which is a separate collection for poor and meritorious students, was built up under the U.G.C. scheme in the year 1975.
The library was shifted from the main building to new one-storied building in the year 2008.
There is a Reading room here in the library which is utilized by the students as well as teachers. This library has dedicated text and reference collections.
The library is proud of its Heritage section. It procured journals from the very inception and now there is a wealthy collection of bound journals kept in proper manner. This library possesses special collection too.
The library presently has more than 31000 books in its collection.
Library automation is on the way and hope it will be completed very soon. Through Koha, the well known Library automation software, database and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) has been created. The students can browse the OPAC from the college website as well as QR posters in several places of the campus. Moreover, the library has an online browsing section to aid the book searching procedure.
The library collection is arranged under Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC) and arranged in the stack room accordingly. This arrangement helps to retrieve book quickly for the reader which saves the time of user.
At present the library has three librarians: Smt. Tanusree Bhadra, Smt. Jayita Naskar and Smt. Sarathi Murmu. Also, Mr. Chunuram Baskey, Mrs. Kumkum Ghosh and Mrs. Soma Saha are working as staffs of the library.
